Get Involved Habitat for Humanity has built more than 150,000 houses worldwide on the foundation of volunteer labor and donations. Volunteers make up the affiliate and national committees. They also are put to work building the houses, or are given a variety of jobs in the offices. HFHCR offers opportunities for single volunteers, small groups, or work teams, known as "brigades". |
Brigades usually spend one to two weeks and are made up of 8 to 20 people. For more information on work team opportunities, please email the HFHCR National Office , or visit the HFH international Global Village website .
Individual volunteers may choose from among any of our active affiliates and are welcome to spend a few days or as many months as desired. Promotional and development work or special projects are available to those with Spanish language skills and who are willing to make longer time commitments. On site construction is available to anyone. We will gladly arrange homestays with Habitat partner families. The Volunteer Guide has more information about the specific affiliates, costs for homestays, what to bring, and a few ideas about what to expect. We ask that all volunteers fill out an application and return it to the National Office as soon as possible.
Your donations can change a family's life in amazing ways. Having a safe place to care for her children has made all the difference for one mother. "Now my boys do well in school, and don't get sick because the rain doesn't fall on them inside the house!" Items you may take for granted could help make a difference in our program, so please look at our wish list, and see if you can help out.
